Indie darlings are plentiful this day and age with Phoebe, Lucy, Julien kinda breaking that floodgates open, but one of the best out there doing it is Bess Atwell. 2021 saw Atwell release her acclaimed Already, Always album, and earlier this year we were blessed with her follow up to that record titled Light Sleeper.

The barely thirty year old made a dreamlike album with this one, getting some help from T-Swift collaborator and indie savant Aaron Dessner (of The National), who produced her album. Sad girl cliché it is, but surface level it is not. She sings of her sisters autism, life, and crafted a beautifully poignant, raw, and honest second album. With some of the big guns of industry taking notice - don’t be surprise if you start hearing this name more and more. Bess has what it takes to be a household name alongside Phoebe and the likes in no time at all.
