It’s hard to box Obed into just genre. The bender blends everything from hip hop flow and storytelling, multi-instrumentation prowess, to elements of his heritage that create a unique flare and feel.
hailing from oceanside with roots embedded in mexico and costa rica, the buffet of sound obed offers up fits him somewhere between the latin-alt sound of chicano batman, california sunshine pop, the unique pysch soul approach of black pumas, and the more popfunk, easy going hip hop vibe of acts like kota the friend and steve lacy. obed has a little bit of something for everyone, but it was really the stunningly catchy “sabor” and the sample joint “chicano poetry” that really made an impression on us and have us keeping both eyes on the next big thing obed padilla. simply put, it’s just a vibe unlike really any other.
